Overview: Design, build, and program a fully functional autonomous robot by integrating mechanical, electronic, and software systems. This intensive offline workshop at the Lecture Hall Complex, IIT Bombay Campus, bridges physical engineering and smart navigation through concept sessions, live hardware demonstrations, and hands-on build exercises. Note: Limited seats available. Hardware kits provided; seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. What You Will Learn: Mechanical Systems & Chassis Dynamics: Fundamentals of robotic motion, chassis assembly, differential drive kinematics, torque selection, and motor driver interfacing (L298N/Cytron). Sensors & Perception Integration: Interfacing analog and digital sensors (ultrasonic, IR line arrays, IMUs) to capture real-time spatial data and filter signal noise. Microcontrollers & Embedded Programming: Writing control logic on microcontroller platforms (Arduino / ESP32) using C++, covering interrupts, PWM control, and sensor feedback loops. Control Algorithms & PID Tuning: Implementing Closed-loop feedback, PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controllers for smooth trajectory tracking and line/obstacle navigation. Autonomous Navigation & ROS 2 Basics: Introduction to Robot Operating System (ROS 2), node communication, publisher-subscriber patterns, and mapping concepts. System Integration & Testing: Assembling a multi-component autonomous robot from scratch, debugging hardware-software synchronization issues, and competing in live obstacle navigation runs. Key Highlights: Certification: Professional Certificate from IIT Bombay. Perks: Free access to all events at Techfest, IIT Bombay, plus prospective internship and growth opportunities.
