Event Overview: Virtual Strategy is a virtual trading and bidding competition organised as part of techFEST’26, the annual technical festival of SLIET. Participants will experience real-world bidding scenarios through virtual trading, where they must allocate capital, read the market, outbid rivals, and manage their virtual portfolio. The event consists of 3 rounds. Rounds: Round 1: Market Basics: A short online quiz covering bidding strategy, valuation basics, and market reading. Quiz performance determines the starting virtual capital. Round 2: Live Bidding Arena: Participants bid on virtual assets, players, and contracts. Participants must manage their budget, timing, and bidding strategy as prices change in real time. Round 3: The Giant’s Portfolio: Top bidders manage a full virtual portfolio across multiple simultaneous auctions. The participant with the highest net worth at the end wins. Scoring And Judging Criteria: Net virtual worth at the end of each round. Quiz performance determines the starting capital. Final ranking is based purely on final portfolio value. Team Format: Individual participation or pairs. Cross-college teams are welcome. Eligibility: Open to students from all institutes and degree programmes, unless specified otherwise in the event rules. Participants must be registered for techFEST’26 through the official portal. Rules And Regulations: Participants must carry a valid college ID card and their techFEST’26 registration receipt. Reporting time will be communicated to registered participants. Late reporting may lead to a walkover. Devices will be provided by the organisers. Bidding platform access will be timed. Collusion between participants will lead to disqualification. Any form of misconduct, plagiarism, or unfair means will result in immediate disqualification. Participants are responsible for their own equipment and personal belongings. The judges’ and organisers’ decisions will be final and binding. Organisers reserve the right to modify the rules, with updates announced at the venue. Prizes: Prizes worth ₹35,000+ for the event. 1st Place: Winner trophy, certificate, and cash prize. 2nd Place: Runner-up certificate and cash prize. 3rd Place: Certificate and cash prize. Participation certificates for all registered participants. Registration Packages: ₹249 Package (Early Bird, Without Accommodation): Participation in all technical and non-technical events of techFEST’26. Participation certificate. ₹499 Package (Early Bird, With Accommodation): Everything included in the ₹249 package. Hostel accommodation on campus. Meal charges applicable as per institute norms. Registration is mandatory for participation. The registration fee is non-refundable once paid. Accommodation is allotted on a first-come, first-served basis. Meal charges are applicable as per institute norms, approximately ₹50 per diet. Participants must carry their registration receipt and valid college ID card while on campus. Certification Policy: All registered participants receive participation certificates. Winners receive trophies, cash prizes, and certificates of merit. Code Of Conduct: Participants must maintain discipline and decorum across the campus and event venues. Indiscipline or misbehaviour with volunteers, organisers, or fellow participants may lead to disqualification. Consumption of alcohol, tobacco, or intoxicants is strictly prohibited on campus. Participants must not damage institute property. Recovery costs may be charged for any damage caused. Organisers reserve the right to remove participants who violate the code of conduct. Refund And Cancellation Policy: The registration fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. If an event is cancelled by the organisers, registered participants will be accommodated in an alternative event wherever feasible. About TechFEST’26: techFEST’26 is the annual technical festival of Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal, Punjab. The festival is themed “Technology and Sciences for Sustainable Earth.” It features 50+ technical, non-technical, and cultural events across 11 clubs. Indicative Event Day Schedule: Reporting and verification: 30–45 minutes before the scheduled start. Participants’ briefing and rules walkthrough by the event head. Competition rounds with short breaks between rounds. Results announcement and prize distribution shortly after judging. Exact timings will be shared with registered participants through email/SMS and at the help desk. Safety And Fair Play Policy: Every event is supervised by faculty coordinators and trained student volunteers. First-aid support is available on campus throughout the festival. Participants violating safety instructions, tampering with equipment, or engaging in unfair practices will be disqualified. Concerns should be reported to the event head or help desk immediately. Terms And Conditions: Participation in techFEST’26 implies acceptance of all applicable rules. Organisers may use photographs and videos from the event for promotional purposes. Prize money will be distributed after the festival and verification of winners. In case of any dispute, the decision of the festival convenor will be final and binding.
