The Worst Game Wins | 2-Day Online Game Jam Make the worst game possible. Win by being the best at it. Most game jams reward polish, balance, and great design. This one rewards the opposite, with one catch: your terrible game must still be a complete, playable, fully committed piece of work. About the Event The Worst Game Wins is a 2-day online game jam where teams intentionally build the worst possible game around a given theme. Think clunky mechanics, absurd controls, nonsensical rules, and gloriously awful UX, all executed with total commitment to the bit. This is not a "do nothing" event. Bad design is the goal, but low effort is not. Judges are looking for teams who put real craft into making something deliberately terrible. The Challenge On Day 1, teams receive a theme that their game must clearly implement. From there, you have two days to design, build, test, and polish your masterpiece of awfulness, then submit it for judging. Minimum Requirements To qualify, every submission must: Be playable start to finish: no crashes, no placeholder or empty builds Clearly implement the theme: the theme must be identifiable in the game Include at least one core mechanic Have a win/lose condition Have basic UI: a menu and/or instructions screen ️ "Bad" must be deliberate. Missing features or broken builds are not a substitute for bad design. Intentional badness is the whole point, and it will be judged. Judging Criteria Entries will be evaluated on: Hilarity: Does it make people laugh (or rage)? Creativity: How original and inventive is the badness? Intentional Bad Design: Is the awfulness clearly deliberate and well executed? Thematic Relevance: How well does the game reflect the given theme? Commitment to the Bit: How fully did the team go all in on the "worst game" concept, while still delivering a complete, playable game? Prizes Total prize pool: ₹2,500 Prize distribution among the top teams will be announced by the organizers. ️ Event Details Format Online Duration 2 Days Dates October 10–11 Team Size 1-4 members Who Should Participate? Game developers, designers, artists, and writers Beginners looking for a low-pressure way to build their first game Experienced devs who want to flex their creativity (and sense of humor) Anyone who has ever said, "I could make a worse game than this" You can use any game engine or tool (Unity, Godot, Unreal, GameMaker, Scratch, web-based, etc.). Submission Guidelines Submit a single .zip file containing: Your complete game: a playable build that runs from start to finish without crashes (include all files needed to run it, plus brief run instructions if the setup isn't obvious) A README file (README.txt or README.md) with a short description of your game, including: The name of your game and your team A brief description of what the game is How your game implements the theme Which "bad" design choices you made on purpose (so judges can appreciate the craft) Make sure the zip opens cleanly and the game runs as described. Submit before the deadline at the end of Day 2.
